Stretch goal unlocked! 800 backers!
over 4 years ago – Thu, Sep 19, 2019 at 06:12:45 PM

Thank you, Minerva Agents!!

Yesterday we were amazed to have unlocked all our planned stretch goals and we introduced a new one which you managed to unlock as well! At 800 backers, you will now get a 30-page comic taking place in Eldritch Century.

Thank you for joining us during this journey. For funding this core rulebook and expanding it 400 pages! For letting us know your concerns so we could clarify the way we want to celebrate all of the civilizations on which the factions for this fantasy-scifi setting are based.

As you know, we are currently working with a cultural consultant and a diverse team of writers to address any issues head-on. The content you see  in the campaign will change meaningfully as we incorporate this feedback. We are committed to being transparent in the process, as the content in our universe evolves and matures into its final form.

Thank you for being here with us, we will deliver an amazing Core Rulebook!

Here's more info about the new PDF adventure for the Stretch goal that was unlocked yesterday. Remember that this will be included in the reward tiers of $40 USD and higher.

This new adventure module for Eldritch Century will take you into the depths of the Miasma along with the Minerva initiative. This will be a 3-5 player adventure fit to introduce newcomers to the setting and give them a first hand experience of the dangers and mysteries of the Miasma. You’ll get a chance to get a close look at Minerva’s HQ at Reykjavik and personally experience the burden of keeping the threats to the Wounded Earth at bay.

Also, expect to see more updates about the comic that you unlocked with today's stretch goal:

We have already started the first 6 pages for the exploration phase so let us share some sketches for the spreads still in progress prior to inking and coloring:

Again, we are extremely happy that this will be a 400-page corebook. THANK YOU!

What's next?

Now that the campaign is over here are the steps we are going to take in the next weeks:

  •  Kickstarter will process payments and will deposit funds to our account in 2 weeks. Backers with errored pledges must fix their payment (more about that below) within the next 7 days.

  • We will finish setting up Backerkit (our pledge manager) to send your surveys in 3-4 weeks. Here, you will be able to add extra items, increase your pledge level and pay for shipping fees as well as to let us know your mailing address (if you selected physical rewards). We will accept pre-orders in Backerkit (in case you know someone who missed the campaign) but of course, our backers always get the best deals, so pre-orders might not include all the items bundled in the reward tiers for a fixed price but rather, they will be separate items for pre-orders.

  • We plan to share the progress with you and to deliver your digital rewards as we finish them.

Errored pledges

If you had issues from Kickstarter charging your credit or debit card, (you can tell if you received an e-mail about this) follow this steps:

  • Identify the source of the problem and provide the solution:    1. Your card has no funds: Transfer funds to it.  2. Another Kickstarter project you backed ended on the same day: Your bank blocked the card for security by thinking it was a duplicated charge.  3. Your card is incompatible with Kickstarter US charge hub: Try using a different card (yours or from a friend).

  • On a web browser (not in the app) go to https://www.kickstarter.com/ and log in your account.

  • You will see a red banner at the top of the website saying you have an errored pledge. Click on "Fix Payment"

  • Try again with the proper card (see the first step: Identify the source of the problem)

There is a bug on which Kickstarter states you have successfully fixed your pledge even though it might haven't worked. The best way to confirm is to refresh the page and not having the red banner on the top; alternatively try looking in your mail for the proper confirmation. Backers with errored pledges have 7 days to fix it and Kickstarter will automatically retry at the end of the 7-day window. If you are not able to fix it within that time, your pledge will be automatically marked as dropped. Don't worry you will still have 2 opportunities to fix it:

  • The first will be when we send the surveys (in about 3 weeks). Backerkit may be able to charge your card properly.

  • The next will be two months after Backerkit surveys arrive when we will be able to enable PayPal payments.

We will be here to provide support. But rest assured that your pledge info is still on record and you will have some opportunities to fix payment in the future. However, it is better to fix the payment in Kickstarter so that you still receive the project updates directly. Having said all of this, your last resource is to ask someone else (a friend or family member) for their card so you can try different cards Visa, American Express, Master Card until the payment is successful.

Pledge manager

We will fully cover this topic later once it goes live but just to point the basics for newcomers:

  • Now that the campaign has finished we need to know how many rewards we are going to manufacture or send. This is done by filling you a Backerkit survey (in 3-4 weeks) that you need to fill as soon as possible.

  • You will also share with us some details from your order such as your selection of add-ons, your mailing address (to send you your rewards) and e-mail for digital rewards.

  • Your shipping fee will be calculated automatically based on weight; you will pay for shipping fees there and may add extra funds for other items.

Importante note: It is better to answer the survey on Backerkit as soon as possible, your card will not be charged until a later date (we are looking into  November to charge cards for shipping fees or add-ons). This charge will occur in your Backerkit survey.

How to create a character - part 2

(Following yesterday's character creation)

Now, Michael has to choose the second event and decision for Eduardo, his character. His objective is to make a Corsair so his choice is “ Hear the Corsair call”

Hear the Corsair Call: The Atlantean Alliance needs you! Join the special Corsair forces and defend the Wounded Earth from the horrors in the Miasma and outside the borders. Honor, glory and training in Atlantean weaponry and technology.

Looking at the branches from here, he goes for “Enlist on an established Corsair Company”  So he gets contacts in the corsair company that may come handy during gameplay and a +1 to either Dexterity or Strength. Since his character is focused on ranged attacks using light weapons he takes the +1 to Dexterity for a 16 in Dexterity.

Enlist on an established Corsair Company: You’re part of a crew. Your brothers in arms forever at your side. You’ve seen action and teamwork is your livelihood.

After this, he goes for the faction Path of the Corsair. That gives him proficiency in Dexterity and Strength saving throws, and two skills to choose from Investigation, Athletics or Survival. He goes for Investigation since he has already Survival from his background.

Finally, he must decide his current status in the faction going for:

Full Corsair: A decorated soldier who has dedicated their life to protect the Alliance. Well respected among the military community, the officials and civilians of the many cities that comprise the Atlantean Alliance. Less so are those who take work as mercenaries.

With that in mind, he takes the goal of “Have my own Corsair company.” He is working at one but he wants his character arc to be to fund and make his own company.

Have my own Charreria/Corsair company. You know that these Atlantean Gladiators are a gold-mine. Charros mean product placement, ticket revenue, what not? Corsairs can bring back glory and artifacts from all latitudes of the Miasma and get your name up high back in America.

With this, he has all the information for his starting character and a small part of their motivations and background. He can work with the GM to expand this or just leave it like that and explore it during play.

Thank you for your support! Eldritch Century has been a passion project since 2 years ago. Last year, we launched a small resin miniature campaign (which is now fulfilled). Today we are able to make an RPG for this setting that we love so much. And when our commitment with you for this campaign is fulfilled, we will finally release the skirmish game. But that's a story for another time. For now, we will work hard to deliver a book worth of having in your collection.

We will try to post regular updates (our goal is 1 per week). If you have any questions or thoughts, feel free to let us know in the comments and we will be there to answer you.

Now that you are part of the Draco family, in case you are interested to know more about our other products, you can join into our Facebook Ambassadors group or subscribe to our monthly newsletter:

Thanks again, trusted Minerva Agents! The adventure has just begun...

Welcome to Eldritch Century!

Last day: All planned Stretch Goals unlocked!
over 4 years ago – Wed, Sep 18, 2019 at 08:01:26 PM

Hello, Minerva Agents!

It seems like yesterday we just launched this campaign and today it is impressive to see that we are fully funded and with all our planned stretch goals unlocked! You have taken us to an amazing adventure in this campaign with all your support, enthusiasm and kind words.

We will provide more info about this new adventure soon but an interesting fact is that it will be a re-make of the very first Eldritch Century most of our teammates played back in 2017, mastered by Rubén Bañuelos, a co-creator for the setting.

But... we still have 17hrs left. Can we unlock another un-planned stretch goal? YES! Earlier in previous updates we showed you the idea for a 6-page comic and asked for your thoughts about this being something  for us to pursue. The response was very positive so...

If we get to 800 backers, we will expand the 6-page comic to 30 pages! That's it, our final stretch goal. Can we get there? Help us share this campaign and we might be able to make it. We have sent our final press releases today for an extra boost.

In this update,we also want to share how to create characters in Eldritch Century and we prepared a gameplay video for you:

 Eldritch Century Gameplay

 Creating a character

Michael, in this example, is creating a character named Eduardo.

First he rolls for his stats getting a 12, 11, 13, 16, 15, 14. He assigned the stats as follows:

STR: 11

DEX: 15

CON: 14

INT: 13

WIS: 12

CHA: 16

Now, with that, he can start filling out his background.

He chooses the Atlantean Faction, so he gets proficiency in Atlantean technology and weapons. Now he must decide Eduardo’s birthplace. He decides to go for New Albion. He increases his Charisma by +2,  so now he has an 18, not bad for a character. He can also choose between Persuasion or Deception for skill proficiency. He goes for Persuasion, wanting to play a suave deal-making character.

He must decide what is going to be the first event. He goes for “Become a Charro,” so now he can choose between 3 different options that branch out from this. The options are “Party Hard”, “Hone your skills” and “Reject Family heritage”.

Party hard: Charrería is a very expensive pastime. Your family is more than accustomed to luxury and you, to its fun side. The best part of every presentation is the party straight afterwards. You may not be the best Charro, but, by God, you do enjoy yourself.

He chooses “Party Hard” so he now has Proficiency against poison and exhaustion and in the Survival skill.

At this point, he must decide on the first two Paths for his character. In this case, he goes for Sword since he wants to be good at combat and the Versastile Path. This will allow his character to be able to move in social situations while also having a gun at his side.

Thanks everyone for your support! If you have any questions about the setting please comment in the campaign and we will be more than happy to provide answers!

Tomorrow we will be hosting a livestream 15 min before the campaign ends. Please join us at Draco Studios Facebook fanpage to enjoy the final minutes with us and celebrate the campaign's end.

48 hours left and Stretch Goal Unlocked!
over 4 years ago – Wed, Sep 18, 2019 at 01:16:11 AM

Hello Minerva Agents!!

We just hit the 48hrs-left mark and got a surge of new agents in the campaign. Welcome! We are at 600+ backers and just unlocked the last stretch goal to increase the page count!

You did it! When we begun this Kickstarter campaign, we were happy with the idea of a 300-page core Rulebook, but now, with all your extra support we will be able to cover additional art, writing and editing to create a 400-page core Rulebook. Thank you!!

We will include more lore, player options on Faction Paths and Powers. Which also means more content for GMs to incorporate in campaign featuring additional Miasma Mysteries and the Eldritch Bestiary will now include 30 monsters instead of 25.

Here's another Miasma Mystery for you:
A Minerva Initiative expedition has returned unharmed, yet something is terribly off. Evan Hozier, who led the expedition has been behaving strangely. Other agents report having seen him staring at walls during the day and moaning during the night. Some are certain that something of his, something primal, has been lost behind the veil.

Also, the STL bundle 2: Monsters will include another creature. The blooderfly:

Concept art by David Yañez.
Sculpt by Heriberto Valle.

As you know, at Draco Studios we are avid players and backers as well, today we found a project we like: Harold the Halfling's Herbology Handbook

This is an all-new RPG supplement with 70 different types of in-game flora ready for any fantasy-based tabletop game. This compendium focuses on the types of flora your adventurers will commonly encounter: trees, fungi, crops, fruits, vegetables, and more, detailing their origins, environments, and uses. Some ideas might be very good to implement on the Miasma with a twist. If this is something you might like, check it out on Kickstarter here.

Now that we are in the last 48 hours, please help us promote awareness for this project in your favorite RPG or 3D-printing forum or by sharing our Facebook pinned post in any gaming groups you belong to.

With the extra support we will be able to unlock the last stretch goal and include a new Adventure (PDF) for backers in the $40 level and above!

Let's spread the word as the Miasma spreads through the world!

Third stretch goal unlocked!
over 4 years ago – Fri, Sep 13, 2019 at 05:28:12 PM

Hello Minerva Agents!

We’re really thankful for all your support during this journey in our way to discover the mysteries of the Miasma.

Thanks to you, we have reached and unlocked the third stretch goal.

You will enjoy more content for Eldritch Century, we are now on our way to make the core rulebook ~400 pages long – currently 365 pages.

Let's begin with the STL model added to the STL bundle 2: Monsters which is one of the most bizarre beings you may find in the Miasma and just wonder about how these originated...

A creature resembling a human head that has grown 6-10 appendages similar to insect legs, claws, chelicerae and other parts. It isn't symmetric and may have only one wing or uneven sets of characteristics. They can normally be found dwelling in small places or abandoned houses. While one of them is not too much of a threat, a swarm can overpower event the most prepared parties.

Concept art by Jaime Hernández. Sculpt in progress by Heriberto Valle.

Among the extra content in the book you will find more info about the factions, the player options for Paths, and Miasma Mysteries to ignite side or main quests in a campaign.

Here's another Miasma mystery for you:

The Axumite Empire's outposts nearby Egypt have all brought back reports of scratching noises behind the veil. Many expeditions have delved in search of the source, but have found only the empty desert and no trace of anything strange –even for Miasmic standards. What is worse, one of the outposts has gone completely silent.

Axumite Empire

Ethiopia saw quite a bit of strife at the turn of the century, but also a similar amount of discovery. King Haile Selassie and his people, who were defending Ethiopia from Rhodesia’s colonialist ways, found a strange artifact that had surfaced years prior. Convinced that the artifact was, indeed, the Ark of the Covenant, the nanotechnology knowledge held within allowed the Empire to grow. After the King’s assassination, Queen Tsehai Haile Selassie took over and united Africa against Rhodesia –responsible for her father’s death.

Today, the Axumite Empire –the conglomeration of African nations united under the banner of the Tree of Life– seeks a world of equality and peace among the peoples. After developing the distilling of Zohar from Miasma, and achieving a growing understanding of the nanotech given onto them by the ark, the Empire grew into a fully technological super-power. Wherever they go, people marvel at the golden and purple armors and the projectile technology that allows some of their units to hover.

Erelim, Kerubim and Malakim

Politically, they detest any colonialist endeavor, as exemplified by their constant struggles with Rohdesia and their philosophical and political antagonism to the Zarathustrian Hegemony. Outside of this, similarly to the Oceanic Community, they hold a more calm view of their role in the world. The Empire also has a standing treaty with the Community, which allows its vessels to cross the Suez canal.

The Empire is growing dangerously close to needing the Miasma to continue to power their Zohar tech. Not only do they seek the raw material –which they vacuum toward their region from standing tubes in the fog–, they also strive to more ways to make use of the Tree of Life: a great tree of manna grown from a wooden rod found within the Ark. Though less aggressive than the other factions, one would be foolish to disregard the Empire’s growth and agendas.

About the Comic...

In the past update we asked what you would think about a comic based on Eldritch Century and the response for it seems to be very positive. We are doing a test with a couple of pages and depending on the result, we might expand it to a full story with more pages. Stay tuned to learn how you can help us with that!

Here's a glimpse of the first sketches prior to inking and coloring, they are still at a super early stage but we got so excited to see them that wanted to share them with you already.

Work in progress. Composition sketch

With the next stretch goal we will be able to fully upgrade the Core Rulebook to the page-count we always wanted it to be. Just one stretch goal more and we will have a ~400 page book!

Remember that you can help us promote awareness for this project in your favorite RPG or 3D-printing forum or by sharing our Facebook pinned post in any gaming groups you belong to.

Let's spread the word as the Miasma spreads through the world!

The Alliance of the Atlantean Nations of North America, Mexico and New Albion
over 4 years ago – Wed, Sep 11, 2019 at 11:50:52 PM

Hey there, Minerva agents

We keep welcoming more agents who join the initiative and keep us moving forward to reach the next stretch goal.

Today we want to share more of our setting. And while this campaign is live, within project updates you will find more information about characters, factions, rules and the making of Eldritch Century.

Thanks for supporting this project, we are glad that you are part of this adventure.

The Atlantean Alliance

When the great families of Lords and Ladies of Great Britain escaped West from the Second Miasmic Expansion, they arrived at a land that they had long before prepared for such an event: New Albion, in the Caribbean. They were received in the new continent by a co-operating North America and Mexico –who had consolidated the strategic alliance as a consequence of the defeat of Zapata in México’s Revolutionary War. What at first was a commercial and political arrangement evolved into an alliance between the three nations.

Art by Anton Ninov

All three parties were interested in similar, capitalistic endeavors and values. What certainly shoved them forward was the discovery of the lost City of Atlantis, which led the Alliance to a new horizon: that of accelerated atomic progress. Now, the Atlantean Alliance focuses their corporate endeavors in the further exploration of Dynamism: the capability to modify everything they own and even alter reality.
The Atlanteans have three bases for a moral compass: money, fame and a need to stop Communism. In –mostly– that order. They are certain that everything outside the geographical borders of the Alliance is for the Alliance to exploit. Their delusion has led them to the thought that they have the moral authority to police the world’s decisions. An overly charming people, many who get along with the Alliance do tend to consider them hypocritical, even in their ambition.

Mina Fox-Craven 3D model. Sculpt by Goh. (Included in the STL Bundle 1: Characters)

Dynamism is the crown jewel of the Alliance, even at pair with atomic energy. As a concept, it means that anything made and worn in the Alliance is modifiable, even reality itself. Alternatively, those members of the Alliance interested in understanding and altering reality whenever and however they see fit, will study the application of Dynamism. Mathematical formulas set and imprinted on a Tech-Hand will trigger an effect on the forces of physics, the rules of space and time that rule our universe. These effects, contrary to popular belief, are not exclusive to the Miasma, and are present in the everyday life of many sectors of the Alliance itself.

Dynamist using tech-hand to repel a teslamancer's attack. Art by Gianina Villagrán (early exploration art stage for Eldritch Century).

Politically, the Alliance holds their timeless foe of Communism in the same regard. Otherwise, people regard them as a necessary –if undesirable– commercial contact. The only other rival they hold, albeit in a more one-sided relationship, is the Oceanic Community, who regard the Alliance as a threat of pollution and exploitation of the waters.

Art by Karlos Warlock

The Atlanteans see the Miasma as the holding cell of hidden technology and innovation, with which they plan to continue growing their corporate agendas.

What do you think about a comic taking place in Eldritch Century?

Let us know in the comments if this is something you would enjoy. We are considering making a short comic as a small side-project so you can immerse in another Eldritch Century story.
