Welcome back, agents

The Eldritch Century: Chronicles of the Wounded Earth mass manufacture approaches, and with it, so do the stretch goals reach a clear shape and design. Before we move on to the details of our products, we want to extend an invitation: Do you want to play with us?

We’re putting together a live streaming of Eldritch Century: Chronicles of the Wounded Earth on Twitch. Our Head of Lore will be Game Master for the session, but we need players. That’s where you come in. We need four players to keep the session balanced, but we don’t want to stop anyone from getting a chance to play. Here’s what we’ll do:

If you’re interested in playing, send an email to [email protected] with the subject “Agent reporting.” We’ll need your name, nationality, pronouns and Discord handle, along with your favorite STL from the campaign. We’ll put together a list and raffle the spots. You’ll find out if you were chosen with an email in your inbox from us and your name or handle in an update.

We hate to be petty, but for the purpose of a steady stream, we need a few things from people who enter, so we welcome you to send your email only if you check off all of the following:

· A steady (or as steady as possible) internet connection

· A camera

· A microphone

· A discord account, because that’s what we’ll use to communicate and play

Your camera and microphone don’t need to be state-of-the-art, but clear enough to see who is playing. Have your favorite d20 app to ensure we can all see the result. From this point we’ll go ahead and call it. Draco Studios and  Bernardo Alvarez are not getting paid for the use of any RNG or dice-rolling app.

Our game will take place on January the 19th at 2000 hours EST and should run about three hours.

Dossiers

The dossiers book is in its last stretch before we move on to editing. We’ve already had this process, but it’s always a good idea to read things out again. We added three all-new art pieces for your starter set.

The Darkest hour

Our art briefs are ready to be assigned to some great artists, and our encounters have been balanced. Design should start soon, after a solid round of proof reading, afterwards we can move on to printing.

The Azure Owl

It has been named. The first thirty pages are completed thanks to Rodrigo Gil. It holds the core values and image of Minerva not only as an initiative but as the goddess herself, one of the most important spots and defense fronts against the miasma.

Your books

You remember the video from last week, correct? We found a few details with the printed copy, but they should be tackled by next week so that we can keep moving.

Transmission Thursday: New stories, new 3D printable miniatures and pre-production copies!

It's night already but we couldn't post today's transmission without finishing the video included below...

Six hundred pages later, months of incredibly hard work writing, reviewing, drafting, scrapping and testing, we’ve truly come a long way. The promise of our books certainly has changed, upon consideration: what started off as one 400-page book has been split into two distinct books with a total of 600-pages.Each has its own identity; each, its own focus.

Additionally, we have some excellent news, but we'll let the following video speak for itself.

We received the preproduction copies of the books! We are so excited and wanted to share the news with you. The feel, the smell, the look... it feels so real to have brought this fictional universe to life.

The wait was well worth it, and your call of going for two books instead of one abridged version was truly the right way to go. We're just now going into production, but a truly fantastic product is coming your way by Q2 this year. We need to make some color adjustments and we expect to enter into mass manufacture very soon!

Now, a piece of information we’ve been hiding in our cases: your books will arrive at your selected drop points in a comfortable and, honestly, beautiful, slipcase.

We are incredibly thankful for your support. Truly, these books could have never been possible without your trust in our work and your confidence in our effort.

The fulfillment date has been pushed to June but we are happy to deliver more than we promised! 

When we first introduced the options for the extra content being digital or an abridged book, there was a confusion about extra funds. To clear this confusion, we decided to finance the extra costs, none of this represent an extra cost for you.

Alternatively, our LAIR division has launched a new campaign for this setting and we’d truly appreciate your patronage if you’re interested in miniatures and the other stories and adventures we’ve been working on.

Eldritch Miniatures and Tales

The Wounded Earth, as you have noticed, is filled with stories, many in the making, most in your hands. Our newest campaign “Eldritch miniatures and tales” is live on Kickstarter with everything we’ve been previewing for about a month. Fifteen sets of different sculptures of some of our monsters and all paths of each faction, including the Minerva Initiative, await.

We appreciate your loyalty, which is why returning backers will receive the Living Nightmares STL pack for free.

We've optimized our reward levels to ensure that you can pick and choose the STL packs you're missing in your collection, instead of having to find the right reward when you pledge (considering their free loyalty rewards). Reward tiers of x4 or x10 STL packs were thought for returning backers who already own their own set of miniatures and want to try the new ones for monsters and the rest of the faction paths.

This isn’t only a chance to get the 3D models for the paths and monsters in the core books, but also another venue to start telling the stories that await in the fog. Three stories of action, intrigue and terror. “Tales from the fog,” one of our digital publications, is an anthology of short stories that follow characters from all factions of the Wounded Earth. “The Depths,” on the other hand, is a novel that focuses on one of the most intriguing characters of the Atlantean Alliance and his terrible secrets.

It's also a great place for your friends to pick up your a digital copy of the Eldritch Century: Chronicles of the Wounded Earth (including the two different adventures and documents unlocked in this first campaign: The Dossier and The Darkest Hour).

 We are a few stretch goals in, but there is still a long way to go.  Only you and your contribution can ensure more STLs added to the fold.

Transmission Thursday: A retrospect

One last Transmission for the year, agents

It’s been a rough one, even us in Icelandic HQ aren’t impervious to the push and pull of the global pandemic. We hope you are all keeping safe and follow the indications of your local and national authorities.

But a new year is always a promise of improvement and an ending one is always room for reflection and introspection. We’d like to thank all of you, who have remained by our side even though our timeline has forcibly changed. Eldritch Century: Chronicles of the Wounded Earth - Almanac and Expeditions are a reality and their snowball has truly evolved.

The books

As of this moment there are no news that you don’t know regarding the books. 

A couple of reminders, though:  

• Preproduction copies are scheduled to arrive next week. If all looks good we will move to mass production of the books.
• PDF's copies of the core books were fulfilled 2 weeks ago. If you can't locate an email from LAIR feel free to reach out at [email protected] with the subject 'Missing EC rewards' and we will assist you. Also, we've been informed about a format issue with the PDF when importing to Books app on iOS, if this is your case, let us know and share as much details as you can so we can understand better the issue. Thanks in advance for your help!

So a recap is in order. Eldritch Century’s development began around four years ago, first as an idea, then as a fully developed, playable game. The team grew and changed, but all the while crafting a universe of which we could be proud.

Perhaps the most visible change to all, other than the new names of a couple of the factions is the system. After many tests with the team and other people who were fascinated by the idea, we reimagined action slots and modifications to what they are now. We kept in mind how we wanted play to be modular for all, not just powercasters. Even coming up with challenge has been an interesting journey. We wanted to make a game where actions and combat were hard because the Miasma isn’t meant to be forgiving.

Exegesis has changed, but the spirit remains. All forms of character combinations are welcome and encouraged in Eldritch Century, because real people don’t follow a pattern, and all are just as valuable and welcome in our world. Your character is still a story for you to tell.

 Dossier (previously named Starter set)

Our team is still working on the document, but we're getting close. We've tried a different style for certain images to shake things up a bit while maintaining the identity of Eldritch Century. We're reworking the maps for some of the adventures and a couple of all-new art pieces. After all, even though it's simply meant to get new players into the spirit of Eldritch Century, it can still be unique.

The comic

Color for all 30 pages is almost complete with just some minor revisions. It’s truly been inspiring to the team to see how quickly the project gained speed from halfway through 2019. After all, the objective with Eldritch Century and all our other universes isn’t just to throw out a great game, but to explore a universe through as many narratives and formats as we can.

The Darkest Hour

We’re lining up a few art briefs for the adventure, which we continue to review to ensure a great start to our adventures.

STL Kickstarter campaign + New Novels

Graphics are being tweaked and the campaign is now being placed and built in the kickstarter drafts site. Be sure to stay tuned to our social media and our Discord server for more news and hype regarding our newest venture. This is a great opportunity for those who missed out on this campaign to get their own digital copy of the Almanac and Expeditions book, along with some great 3D models and fascinating stories.

The campaign will be managed by LAIR, our 3D printing division, and you can already opt-in to be notified on launch. We hope to count with your support and expand this universe even more!

Transmission Thursday : Happy holidays

The miasma has no schedule, let alone a calendar, thus our work continues. We must be vigilant. Today, as our lookouts set up shop for a quiet vigilance at the edge of the fog, we’d like to cover a few news we have regarding your rewards.

The Books

Our manufacturer Panda told us that the pre-production copies will be sent early next week, once revised and approved we can move forward with mass-production. We’ll be one step closer for fulfillment.

Remember that if you haven’t received an email from LAIR to download your digital copy of the book in PDF version, you can send us an email at [email protected] with the subject “Missing EC rewards.” The team will follow up first thing on Monday. 

Minerva Comic

A fleeing Sino-Siberian has entered the fog with sensitive Renascent information. Follow Carolina, a promising corsair in training, as she delves into the fog with a team of strangers. Will she fulfill her mission, or will she be corrupted irreparably by the fog.

Ink work is in for the second half of the first 30 pages of the comic. Instead of showing a full page, we’ll focus on the panels that received changes this past week. We’re currently working on a cover as well, but we’ll show you that as it comes along.

The Darkest Hour

Our Darkest Hour adventure (unlocked digital stretch goal) is currently being reviewed by the team to fix any necessary changes we may find, as well as balancing encounters. Become one of Minerva’s recruits as they try to make sense of the mystery behind a suddenly emerging and dreadfully empty submarine.

Eldritch Century Dossiers

Formerly known as our starter set, Dossiers is a short compendium of our rules, our world and a quick three-part adventure that will serve as a first approach to the hellscape that is the Lost Continent. Our team has moved on to editorial design with a few elements we learned from the core books themselves.

Our Draco Studios blog is live. Be sure to check it out for new information on your favorite projects, as well as a short post by our team regarding Eldritch Century as a whole: the process, the incoming content, and a quick look at the world for newcomers.

Upcoming campaign

The campaign for new 3D printable files by LAIR is scheduled to release in January 5th. Our team is putting together all pieces and setting up the hype to bring the nightmares of the fog straight to your table and to display in the extremely rare occasion that you defeat them.

Transmission Thursday: Boreal

Today we’ll focus on one of the stranger and rarer creatures one may encounter in the fog. Additionally, we’ have important announcements regarding your documents.

Boreal

In the northern reaches of Finland, where cold dominates the land since long before the Miasma arrived, live a looming breed of Miasma horrors known to adventurers as Boreals.

A boreal is a humanoid standing at twenty feet tall, with the body mass to compensate for the height. Closer, stealthier inspection by some valorous agents has shed light on the composition of boreal bodies: humans whose mass has been exaggeratedly enlarged and filled with Miasmic tissue. The creature has adapted to the cold by attaching living beings to its body, making use of their body warmth. As the corpses it covers itself with go cold in death, a Boreal continues to seek more bodies to prevent freezing. Meanwhile, it keeps using its collection of bodies as armor, and often as weapons too.

The Book

All has been approved by our manufacturing partners at Panda, along with a slipcase for both books. We’re hoping that by January we’ll have a proper pre-production copy to be sure that we can get printing. While we’re not out of the woods yet, we’re hoping we can start printing before the Chinese New Year and get running for fulfilment.

Comic

The comic is swimming along. We've completed pencils for the last fifteen pages, taking us to the thirty page mark. We are very excited about its progress, so we wanted to share it with you. Inking is currently in progress.

The Darkest Hour

Our game design team has taken a deep look at the encounters in our adventure, and we're getting close to a stage where editorial design can feel confident about digging in themselves.  We've tried our best to make sure the horror comes through in the challenges and encounters and, honestly, it comes through. Eldritch Century isn't the sort of game where you run in and kill everything; sometimes the best idea is to run away.
